About Amirul Abdul Khalid
How did you get started in training and what sparked your interest in becoming a trainer?
I was training to be a commercial pilot and while I was training I realised that my study time was a lot less then my weight training.
At this point I realised that my passion was lifting weights so I started training consistently to improve my understanding of weight training.
A few years on I gave u on my pilot career and took up an AUT course and then a Personal Training course with NZHIF.
What keeps YOU motivated?
Being able to see results from things I apply in my daily life.
Helping other people achieve their goals is very motivating and rewarding and being able to guide them through their journey to a healthier life style.
What does your training programme look like?
I do a body building style of training, I believe weight lifting is an art so I always listen to my body and figure out what is required for me to progress.
I train six days a week for about 1 hour each session.
What are some of your favorite motivational quotes?
It’s not about how hard you hit, its about how hard you can get hit and moving forward.
If you’re scared of being different then you’ll be the same as everyone else. (My own cheesy quote)
There are many of those who oppose us, yet it only matters when it works. (My own deep quote)
Who do you admire?
Mike O-Hearn He is an American body builder who is passionate and unwavering in his approach to training.
What is the difference between working with a personal trainer compared to exercising alone?
A Personal trainer will constantly monitor your training and progress. Some people may already know how to exercise or already have their own program, but they could lose motivation to go to further lengths and that’s when Personal trainers come into place to add that extra oomph!
