I have lived and worked on the Hibiscus Coast for nearly 30 years now and I love this area with a passion.
Because of my keen interest in health and fitness I decided to study ‘Fitness Centre Training’ at AUT. I gained certification and became a fitness instructor, working at the Leisure Centre.
With my interest in fitness I was naturally drawn to Pilates. The Core strengthening benefits impressed me so much that I decided to give it a try and I found it to be challenging and engaging.
Pilates has helped me in more ways than I could have imagined. I loved it so much I studied to become a certified Pilates Instructor in Mat, Apparatus and Reformer.
I opened my own Pilates Studio, ‘Suna Pilates Whangaparaoa’ and have been teaching locally for the last 5 years. Sadly, due to a life style change I had to close my studio.
Recently Deb called me to see if I was interested in teaching Pilates, mat classes from the ‘FFS Gym’ I was really keen to continue teaching classes so I decided to join them.
I believe that doing Pilate’s increases awareness of posture and breathing, you will also benefit from increased flexibility and muscle tone, length and strength. Pilates can be used either as an exercise form by itself, or can be added to any workout routine you’re currently enjoying.
